PURPOSE:To make rolling load equal at all times and to maintain a uniform height in a rugged part in a work roll for embossing by using a variable crown roll which supplies pressure fluid between the arbor and sleeve thereof. CONSTITUTION:A variable crown roll is used for a work roll according to the rolling down condition during rolling of a steel plate to be worked in the stage of producing an embossed steel plate by a work roll of a projecting type having an annular projecting part and a work roll of a recessed type having an annular recessed part. If, for example, uniform rolling load is applied more than needed on both sides of each work roll, an annular groove 14 having a prescribed width is provided preliminarily at the center on the outside circumference in the cylindrical part 13 of an arbor 12 of the work roll 11 and a fluid passage 15 for feeding pressure fluid from one end to the groove 14 is provided in the axial center part thereof. A sleeve 16 is shrinkage-fitted to the outside circumference of the arbor 12, thereby forming the variable crown roll 11. |
