In conventional electrical circuits interface or contact resistance between two current carrying conductors produce one of the most uncontrollable, and hazardous parts of the circuits. Due to numerous factors including wear, corrosion. temperature cycling and loss of temper, the contact resistance rises above its original design value after the equipment has been in use. This increase in contact resistance causes an increase in heat generated at the electrical interface, and as a result, further deterioration of the interface. The resulting cumulative increase in contact resistance is one of the major contributing factors in electrical failures and fires. This invention utilizes the undesired heat generated as electrical current passes through contact resistance to limit and/or reduce the value of the contact resistance, and thereby limit heat generated by the passage of the electrical current through the contact resistance. This invention significantly reduces the danger of electrical failures and fires, and increases the useful life expectancy of a wide variety of electrical fittings, devices, and equipment,
|
