PURPOSE:To produce easily and inexpensively a cylindrical body by field assembly by lowering both suspended and edges of a steel plate which is gripped in the central part and is hoisted on a semicircular reinforcing material and joining by welding the above-mentioned two end edges then joining the steel plate to a reinforcing material. CONSTITUTION:A semicircular reinforcing ring 2 is installed on a stand 4 for installing the reinforcing ring so as to dome downward and a linear setting surface plate 5 is positioned horizontal. The central part of a steel plate 1 is clamped with a hoisting jig 3 and is hoisted with a crane, etc. While the two suspended end edges of the plate 1 are brought into sliding contact with the inside of said ring 2, the end edges are lowered until the edges contact with each other on the plate 5. A steel plate holder 7 is then placed on the plate 1 on the surface plate 5 to press the plate, and the two end edges are welded to each other. When the plate 5 is lowered thereafter, the plate 1 forms a circular cylindrical shape of itself and contacts tightly with the inside circumference of the ring 2.
