This invention is concern with a method of preparing a polycarbonate resin by passing a solution of dihydric phenol through a source of hydrogen and reacting the solution with carbon monoxide. This is a division of application Ser. No. 218,501, filed Dec. 22, 1980 and now U.S. Pat. No. 4,414,264 which is a continuation-in-part of application Ser. No. 32,663 filed Apr. 23, 1979 and now U.S. Pat. 4,243,779 .
