PURPOSE:To greatly reduce the shock of speed changing, by equalizing the actual input revolution speed of an automatic transmission to a calculated input revolution speed corresponding to the end of the shifting and by thereafter completely engaging friction elements with each other to finish the speed changing. CONSTITUTION:When a speed changing kind detector 12 has found out that an instruction for speed changing from a low position to a second position is given, the revolution speed Ni of an engine and that No of the output shaft of an automatic transmission 8 are found out by detectors 4, 10, respectively. The values found out by the detectors 4, 10 are applied to multipliers 14, 16 and multiplied by constants C1, C2 applied from a constant generator 18 and corresponding to transmission ratios. The results of the multiplications are compared with each other by a comparator 20. An instruction based on the output of the comparator 20 to reduce the speed of the engine is sent to an engine revolution speed control unit 6 through a control unit 22. When the output of the comparator 20 has approached zero, friction elements are completely engaged with each other. |
