<p>PURPOSE:To simply and accurately detect the remaining amount of sheets on each of a plurality of sheet supporting trays by providing a sheet feeding device with a unit vertically movable by a pulse motor and adapted for feeding sheets from the sheet supporting trays, and counting the driving pulses of the pulse motor. CONSTITUTION:A sheet feeding device 200 is so designed as to serve as a carriage of a copying machine body 100 and includes a plurality of sheet supporting tray 26-31. Most of the sheet supporting trays 26-30 are normally retracted to such a position as not to hinder vertical movement of a sheet delivery unit 23, and only the other sheet supporting tray 31 is fixed. The sheet delivery unit 23 is vertically movable by a drive motor 32 through a drive wire 25 and is employed to deliver one by one the uppermost sheet on a predetermined sheet supporting tray 26-31 to a conveyer belt 24. At this time, the driving pulses of the drive motor 32 is counted to detect and indicate the remaining amount of sheets on each of the sheet supporting trays 26-31.</p> |
