PURPOSE:To perform recording with no deterioration in recording density by moving back an optical head for waiting by a prescribed distance when the recording or reproduction is discontinued, then starting the recording or reproduction again at the position where the recording or reproduction of a recording medium is discontinued after the optical head is moved forward again. CONSTITUTION:In case the record information is discontinued, a recording head 17 is moved back by a fixed distance and stopped there for waiting the next recording. Then the head 17 is moved forward again when the preparation is through with the next recording, and the information is recorded again at a point where the record information is discontinued. The head 17 is driven toward the radius direction of a disk (recording medium) 1 by a driving motor 18. This motor 18 is controlled by a motor control circuit 19. A controller 12 transmits a control signal 20 to the circuit 19 to indicate the advance, retreat and stop of the motor 18, while a signal 21 showing the head position is sent to the controller 12 from the circuit 19. |
