PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substrate having an excellent productivity, omitting a low temp. coagulating step in the production process by forming an undercoating layer composed of a water soluble high polymer substance having an acetoacetyl group on the activated surface of a polyolefin resin layer being effected an activation treatment to the surface on which a silver halide photographic emulsion layer is to be coated, and by coating the undercoating layer with a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:In the titled substrate body coated the both surfaces of a paper substrate composed of a natural or a synthetic pulp with the polyolefin resin layer, the undercoating layer composed of the water soluble high polymer having the acetoacetyl layer or composed of the resin composition mainly contg. the water soluble high polymer having the acetoacetyl group is formed on the activated surface of the polyolefin resin layer by coating it at the rate of 0.02-5g/(m<2>). The polyolefin resin layer being effected the activation treatment on the surface which is to be coated the photographic emulsion layer. As the low temp. coagulating step which is required in a gelatin preparation is omitted in the step of coating the undercoating layer, the speed of coating may be improved, thereby increasing the productivity. And as the activation treatment of the undercoating layer is not necessary, the production step may be simplified. |
