The fitting joins two tubular memvers in a fluid-tight relationship. It has a sleeve whose outer end portions have ridges on the inner surfaces to retain a tube once the fitting is compressed inwardly around the tube. The retention areas include sealing elements on the inner wall of the fitting to form a fluid-tight bond with the tubular member receiving the fitting. Intermediate areas separate the end portion and the sealing areas, and a central portion has an increased wall thickness that provides greater strength in that area.
