The load conveying device has transport vehicles (1) with load reception surfaces which roll with track rollers (24) on guiding ways (5) and which interact with sprocket wheels (4) of the track rollers (24) with endlessly circulating, motor-driven chains which are arranged in a straight line behind one another. A space is always provided between successive chains, and for trouble-free insertion of the sprocket wheel (4) into the following chain (7), the latter is provided with an upwardly inclined chain introduction region, and an introduction equalising device is provided. This introduction equalising device is arranged inside every track roller (24) of the vehicles (1) and constructed in such a way that the track surface (3) and the sprocket wheel (4) of the track roller (24) are made elastic in both directions of rotation and twistable in relation to one another to a limited extent. The track roller (24) has a central track roller part (25) which holds the sprocket wheel (4) and two track roller parts (26) on its ends, which form the track surfaces (3); the central track roller part (25) and the track roller parts (26) on the ends have coupling means (17, 20) which engage with one another, such as projections and notches, and damping means (18, 22) such as pressure springs, bolts, cushions or the like connected in between, by means of which a connection by twisting on the one hand and a twisting of the track roller parts (25, 26) towards one another on the other hand are possible in a certain region.
