PURPOSE:To present an electric circuit from generating heat and to suppress the production of a strong braking torque by stopping a chopper circuit when the fact that an electric rolling stock travels reversely is detected. CONSTITUTION:If the field winding 2b of a motor 2 is excited at a reverse side when a railcar slips to the forward side so that a current flows in a direction of an arrow B, a generating current is flowed from an armature 2a as shown by an arrow A. A plugging detector 5 detects the fact that a current is flowed to an armature diode 3b and operates a one shot multivibrator 6. The multivibrator 6 interrupts a chopper circuit 4 by stopping a gate firing circuit 10. In this manner, it can prevent an electric circuit from generating heat, and suppress the production of a strong braking torque, thereby providing a controller for an electric rolling stock having high safety.
