PURPOSE:To improve formation efficiency and reduce formation electrification levels by applying on-off pulse current through fixed current at the initial stage of the formation of a non-formation plate. CONSTITUTION:When the formation of a non-formation plate is performed, on- off pulse current through fixed current is applied at the initial stage of the formation. For example, a non-formation plate for a positive electrode and a non- formation plate for a negative electrode are arranged in a formation container. On-off pulse current is applied every minutes simultaneously with the start of electrification through fixed current up to the theoretical time of 100% of formation efficiency. Subsequently, continuous current is applied through fixed current in the same way. After formation is completed, a battery is assembled and specified intial charge is performed. As a result, after the formation in the vicinity of a grid frame is completed, the inner part of a non-formation active material layer is prevented from advancing toward the surface of the non-formation plate in a branch form and formation efficiency can be improved and then all formation electricity levels can be reduced. |
