Connecting rod for any internal-combustion engine, structural connecting rod or beam or elliptical spring in aviation, industry, transport or building industry. A connecting rod subjected to a pressure tends to swell in its middle if the connecting rod is long and thin. We have observed experimentally that a spiral reinforcement substantially improves the flexural modulus of a beam and therefore reduces its tendency to buckle. Hooping also reduces the barreling effect. The invention describes a structure consisting of a central part constituted by a plastic mortar containing filler (for example mineral filler) and a spiral reinforcement constituted, for example, by a filament winding. A geodesic winding completes the device in order to transfer the tensile stresses. <IMAGE>
