PURPOSE:To maintain stability of the connection between the terminals and the resistor thereby to improve the durability of the resistor, by keeping the difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the resistor being the fixed resistor for limiting the current passing through the starter and the terminals for the same within a predetermined limit and also by installing the resistor at the position in the bulb of the lamp where the terminals are kept under a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:The luminous tube 1 and the starter 2 for generating the starting pulse are connected in parallel in the lamp 3, and a fixed resistor 6 is provided to control the current passing through the starter 2 thereby to limit the magnitude of the pulse to be generated by the starter 2. The resistor is constructed by a solid body or a film and the difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the resistor and the terminals disposed at both ends of the resistor is kept within (-5 to 60)X10<-7>(cm/cm/ deg.C) and the terminals are installed where the temperature of the resistor 6 during the operation of the lamp 3 will not exceed 400 deg.C. The terminal may be of either a cap form or a ring form, into which the resistor is pressed under cold temperature. Since the temperature of the resistor does not exceed 400 deg.C, the stress for the terminals to hold the resistor is kept unchanged. |
