PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a device to economize in energy, by turning off the power source of an information processing device automatically when the holding state waiting for the intervention of the operator is continued over a certain time in the device. CONSTITUTION:A means is provided which turns off automatically the power source of the information processing device when the holding state waiting for the intervention of the operator is continued over a certain time in the information processing device. For example, a sensor 1 discriminates whether the state of the device is the holding state or not, and its output is inputted to a one- shot multivibrator circuit 5 through a signal line 2, a driver 3, and a signal line 4. If the holding state of the device is detected, a power-off signal having a prescribed pulse width is generated by a circuit consisting of one-shot multivibrator circuits 5 and 8, time constant circuits 6 and 9, and a signal line 7 and is transmitted to an AND gate 11. The output of the AND gate 11 is inputted to a driver 19 through an OR gate 17 and a signal line 18 to drive the driver 19, and a relay 20 is operated to close a contact 21, and an electromagnetic relay of a power-off circuit is operated. |
