In a device for loading and/or unloading piece goods, according to the invention the main column supporting the lifting platform is to be arranged so as to be stationary and perfect performance of transfer operations by the loading and/or unloading device is to be ensured, regardless of its location or position in relation to individual positioning and transfer points, without disturbance of the actual movement operation by significant additional moments. In addition, the possibility is to be provided for operation of palletising and depalletising machines and/or packaging and unpackaging machines on the column separately from one another. The invention achieves this object according to the exemplary embodiment illustrated in Fig. 1 by providing only one stationary main column 1, on each of the preferably opposite sides of which a lifting platform (6) is mounted so as to be capable of vertical reciprocation, two extension arms (10, 11) which are held at a distance from one another and whose ends facing away from the bearing have a cross bar (13) which receives the actual loading and/or unloading device, being rotatably mounted on such a lifting platform (6) so as to be jointly swingable on a horizontal plane within a predeterminable range of angles. <IMAGE>
