PURPOSE:To facilitate mounting of a protective member by fitting the juncture of optical fibers to the protective member with a mark as an indicator. CONSTITUTION:A protective member 12 consisting of a plastic/metallic material is of a rectangular shape of which the top end face is opened. A groove 13 which is slightly wider than the outside diameter of the covering parts 1a, 2a of optical fibers and substantially deeper than the outside diameter of the covering is provided in said member by penetrating the member in its longitudinal direction. The base of the groove 13 is formed to a semicircular shape, and plural dovetail groves 14 intersecting orthogonally with the V-groove 13 are provided on the top end face. A cover 15 consisting of a plastic/metallic plate having elasticity is of the rectangular shape roughly identical to the shape of the member 12 in the plane view and the bottom surface of said cover is formed with a band-like projecting part 16 fitting to the upper part of the groove 13 and is provided with projecting parts 17 to be fitted into the grooves 14 when pressed. |
