PURPOSE:To aim at preventing a thick unfiberized glass strand from being left behind a feed roller, by installing a collet supporting device being movable between a position where a filament bundle does not contact a feed roller and another position where the bundle contacts a roller peripheral surface over the specified angle. CONSTITUTION:A strand 5 is drawn and put in order, then passes through the groove of a guide roller 8 and rolled round on a collet 75 at a standby position for driving. When the collet 75 reaches its steady-state speed, a frame 71 supporting this collet is turned round whereby the collet 75 shifts into a yarn guide position. Therefore, the strand rolled round on the collet makes contact with a feed roller 9 over a specified contact angle alpha. Afterward, when the collet 75 is stopped, the strand 5 enters automatically a chopping position by means of sticky contact against the feed roller 9. Hereat, the contact angle alpha is of 160 deg.+ or - 30 deg., and an equation of collet = (feed roller speed) X 1.1 is set down whereby a fear that a thick unfiberized strand will leave a winding hangover behind a feed roller tip can be solved. |
