This concerns a gasification process for solid carbonaceous materials in a fluidised bed in the presance of steam, added hydrogen, carbon monoxide and a catalyst. The reactor volume is reduced by elevating either the point or points at which the solid carbonaceous feed is introduced, the point or points wherein hydrogen and carbon monoxide are introduced or the point or points at which both the solid carbonaceous feed and the carbon monoxide and hydrogen are introduced. When the points of feed introduction 31 min -31 sec and the points of carbon monoxide and hydrogen introduction 35 min -35 sec are elevated, the reduction in volume is greater than would have been predicted from a relocation of either of these points separately. |
