PURPOSE:To improve holding of an active material, and make an active material holder light weight, and increase liquidtightness of a separating wall by connecting grids comprising lead or lead alloy which are arranged on opposite sides of an electrolyte resistant separating wall at a plurality of through hole portions. CONSTITUTION:An active material holder 3 is constructed by placing a separating wall 1 between grids 2, used for holding an active material, comprising lead or lead alloy, and connecting them at a plurality of through hole portions. 4 shows a cathode active material, 5 an anode active material, and 6 a separator or glass mat. The through hole portion 2a is formed in such a way that a through hole 1a is formed in a separating wall 1 and a projecting part is formed in a grid 2 so as to fit to the hole 1a, and the projecting part is fixed to the hole 1a, and electrodes 9 and 9' are pressed in an arrow direction from the outside of the grid 2, and current is applied between electrodes 9 and 9' to weld them. |
