PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of the surface of an electrophotographic sensitive body due to chemical factor satisfactorily for a long period by forming an insulating protective layer contg. an antioxidant on the outer surface of a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive powder, such as ZnO, a binder resin, such as an epoxy resin, and an org. solvent are dissolved and dispersed to prepare a photosensitive emulsion. A conductive substrate drum or plate is coated with said emulsion and dried to form a photosensitive layer. Then, it is coated with an electrically insulating resin, such as hardenable acrylic resin, having >=1X 10<14>OMEGA.cm volume resistivity contg. an antioxidant, such as 4,4'-thiobis(3-methyl- 6-t-butylphenol) to form a 0.05-3mum thick insulating protective film. As a result, deterioration of the surface of the photosensitive body by an oxidative atm. of ozone or the like can be prevented and the stable electrostatic characteristics and image quality can be maintained. |
