发明名称 HEAT INSULATING METHOD FOR INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE
摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent emission of heat from the outer surfaces of an internal- combustion engine and to lower the engine noise, by applying heat-insulating treatment to the engine by applying a heat-resisting and vibration-damping material over the outer surface of each part constituting the outer surfaces of the engine. CONSTITUTION:The outer surfaces of an internal-combustion engine 2 are constituted by a crankcase incorporating therein two right and left bank cylinders 11, 12, etc., an oil pan 14 covering the bottom of the crankcase 13, cylinder heads 15 formed at the top of the crankcase 13, bonnets 17 covering the top of each cylinder head 15, etc. In such an engine, a heat-insulating and vibration- damping material 9 is applied to the outer surface of each part by way of coating or spraying, for instance, as shown by the bonnet 17 in the drawing. In case that higher heat-insulating properties are required, it is possible to apply a heat- insulating material such as polyethylene sheet 10 or the like over the surface of the vibration-damping material 9 and to apply a further vibration-damping material 19 over the surface of the polyethylene sheet 10. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent emission of heat from the outer surfaces of the engine 2 and to raise the thermal efficiency of the same.
