PURPOSE:To easily continuously apply a thick coating layer having excellent external appearance onto the periphery of a long body, by providing a vessel, which is equipped with a gas introducing opening at its side and with a gas- discharging opening at its upper end, at a part for raising a coated material, while specifying the distance between said gas-introducing opening and the surface of a bath. CONSTITUTION:A gas vessel 4 is provided at a raising part for raising a coated material 1 from a coating bath 2. An opening 6 for introducing unoxidizing gas 5 is provided at the side of said gas vessel 4, a gas-discharging opening 7 is provided at its upper end, and the gas vessel 4 is immersed in a manner such that the distance H between the gas-introducing opening 6 and the surface of the coating bath 2 is held at 3-100mm.. By sending in unoxidizing gas through the gas-introducing opening 6, the interior of the vessel 4 is held in an oxidation- preventing atmosphere to prevent the oxidation of the coating bath 2 or the coated material 1. In addition, the coated material 2 is rapidly cooled by the gas ejected through the gas-ejecting opening 7 without disturbing the surface of the coating bath 2. Thus, uniform thick coating can be performed while inhibiting the lagging of the coating layer. |
