A process for installing, partic. at sites of great depth, off-shore platforms anchored to the sea-bed by cables under tension with intermediate elements brought by being guided along wires from the platform to bases previously fixed onm the sea bed, incorporates fixing by jacks controlled remotely. The process consists of first erecting the platform at the ship-building yard with it fixing cables lowered to the lower part of the columns and attached to connection plates. The platform is then towed to the installation site and the plates with the cables are lowered to the sea-bed, along guide wires provided between the platform and the bases anchored to the sea-bed. Remotely controlled jacks carried by the plates are then operated to fix metal end-pieces of the cables to the bases, and the cables are put under tension. Operations at the sea-bed are minimised.
