PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensively a toner for developing an electrostatic charge image with stable positive chargeability by using a polymer prepd. by polymerizing a monomer in the presence of a specified compound as a binder. CONSTITUTION:A monomer such as styrene, ethylene or propylene is polymerized in the presence of a compound represented by formula I (where R1 is H, hydroxyl, alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is phenyl or a group represented by formula IIor III; and each of R3-R7 is H, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl), e.g., a compound represented by formula IV. The resulting polymer contg. about 0.1-15wt% said compound is used as a binding resin as it is. The polymer is blended with carbon black, a magnetic body, etc. to obtain a toner. |
