PURPOSE:To improve the quality recording by keeping the space between a discharge orifice and a recording surface at more than S<1/2> (S: area of the orifice) and less than the interval wherein a jetted and flying drip of liquid is not separated during flight. CONSTITUTION:When an electrothermal transducer 206 is electrified, an abrupt change occurs in the state of the liquid is at an energy-acting part 204 and thereby the drips of liquid are discharged from an orifice 202. A drip 212 of liquid has the columnlike form with approximately the same size of cross-sectional area and length as the area S of the orifice and the length L1 or L2 in the direction of the flow route. When the position of the recording paper 213 is altered, the dirps such as P1, P2 and P3 are stuck to the recording paper. Accordingly, it is agreeable that the recording paper is placed within the range where no satellite drip such as P3 is produced. Furtheremore, it is also preferable that the recording paper is placed apart in the distance of S<1/2> or more, or pref. 2XS<1/2> or more, assuming that the area of a discharge orifice is S. |
