PURPOSE:To obtain a medium for electrophoresis which has improved membrane strength, permits easy processing and handling, and has improved separating power, migration speed, etc. by incorporating a water soluble polymer and agarose in the stage of polymerizing an acrylamide compd. and a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:A water soluble polymer, such as PVA, polyacrylamide, polyethylene glycol or the like, is added as a plasticizer to monomers for a copolymer at 2-100wt% by the total weight of said monomers and agarose is added as a viscosity adjusting agent at 0.2-2wt/vol.% by the volume of the gel to be formed in the stage of polymerizing an acrylamide compd. such as acrylamide, N-methylacrylamide or the like and a crosslinking agent such as N,N'-bis-acrylamide or the like and manufacturing a gel medium for electrophoresis. An anionic surfactant such as alkyl sulfate is further added as a modifying agent to said mixture at 0.05-2.0wt/vol% by the volume of the gel. Brittleness is thus improved and the excellent gel which is free from damage, etc. in the stage of working a sample feed port is obtd. |
