PURPOSE:To obtain an always stable image in a copying machine provided with an automatic density control mechanism by changing over a latent image-forming condition to soft gradation when said mechanism is actuated, as compared with an image formed when it is not, and forming an image. CONSTITUTION:A secondary destaticizer 3 opposite in polarity to a primary charger is installed near a photosensitive drum 1, and an E-V curve can be changed by changing relative position between the corona distribution of the secondary destaticization and the luminous flux S1 of exposure light. Image exposure is executed through the opening of the staticizer 3. When said flux S1 coinciding with the corona distribution is given, a high contrast E-V curve is obtained. A high-contrast latent image is formed at the time of the manual operation, and at the time of operation by said mechanism (AE mechanism) a soft-gradation latent image comes to be formed by shifting said flux S1 somewhat forward or backward to S2 or S3, as shown in the figure, as a result, an always stable image can be obtained. |
