PURPOSE:To provide the titled material which is specified in the ratio of the longitudinal to the lateral strength thereof, excellent in heat resistance, shock resistance and moldability and enhanced in abrasion resistance, mainly comprising a polyamide-imide resin containing specific repeating units as main structural units. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide-imide resin having repeating units each represented by formula I (wherein Ar is a trivalent aromatic group containing a 6-membered carbocyclic ring, R is a divalent aromatic group and/or an aliphatic residue, R' is H, CH3 or phenyl), e.g., units represented by formula II or III, as main structural units and, if necessary, other polymers (e.g., polyphenylene sulfide or aromatic polyamide) are melt kneaded and molded into a sheet material having the strength ratio which satisfies the relationship 0.60<=Y/X<=0.95 (wherein X is the strength in the longitudinal direction of said material and Y is that in the lateral direction thereof) to obtain the objective sheet material. USE:Packing, gasket base, or the surface covering material for a heat-resistant press roll. |
