PURPOSE:To enable the utilization of a sizing adhesivity for monitoring the sizing process and controlling sizing conditions by measuring a level difference of a size and a running length of a yarn during the sizing process to calculate the sizing adhesivity from the formula. CONSTITUTION:A yarn 6 is coated with a size liquid 7 while passing between sizing rolls 9 and 10. A pulse cam 21 detects the rotation of a guide roll 12 to allow a pulse generator 22 to generate pulses in the number proportional to the running speed of the yarn 6. A pulse counter 23 counts the number of pulses to detect the running length l of the yarn 6, which is fed to a computer 5. The level L of the size liquid 7 in a storage tank 17 reduces in proportion to the consumption thereof and a size level detector 20 detects the level diference deltaL and feds a signal corresponding to the consumption to the computer 5. The computer 5 calculates the sizing adhesivity R based on the formula. The unit weight M, the number N Of the yarn and the concentration C of the size liquid are preset. |
