The present invention relates to, as new industrial products, the benzhydrol derivatives belonging to the family of 2-Äa-(hydroxy)halobenzylÜ-4-alkylphenols of general formula: <IMAGE> where R is a C3-C8 alkyl group having a branched hydrocarbon chain, and Ar represents a halophenyl group of formula: <IMAGE> where R1 is F, Cl or Br, and R2 and R3, which are identical or different, each represent H, F, Cl or Br; and to their enantiomers. These products are useful in therapeutics, especially as antibacterial agents.
