PURPOSE:To enable the much higher track density by eliminating pasting of erasing heads from both sides of a recording and reproducing head thereby simplifying construction and improving the accuracy in the distance between recording-reproducing and erasing gaps. CONSTITUTION:A recording-playback head 51 and an erasing head 52 in a tunnel erasing type magnetic head consist of bulky magnetic cores 11, 12, gaps 13, 18, thin film magnetic cores 14, 16 and a coil, and the part between the head 51 and the head 52 is formed of a non-magnetic material 20. Then the number of parts is decreased and the frequency of pasting is decreased as well. The gap distance of the gaps 13, 18 is exactly controlled by the thickness of the material 20. If the recess of a core 16 is deviated adequately from the projecting part of a core 14 in accordance with the diameter of a recording medium to be used, a difference in inside rings is eliminated without providing azimuth to the gaps 13, 18. Since there is no pasting of both sides, the higher track density is made passible up to the threshold of the thickness of bulk cores 11, 12. |
