The apparatus makes it possible to keep a film in perfect synchronism with respect to a magnetic tape. The tape should have optically readable pips. The pips originating from the two media (sound and image) are processed and placed in memory in order to be able to absorb the kinetic differences in the two apparatuses (projector and tape recorder). Reading the pips further makes it possible to detect the direction of movement of the media and to react as a consequence. In conclusion, the film will follow the magnetic tape to within one image whatever the operations carried out on the tape recorder, even if it means making up its delay as necessary. <IMAGE>
