Light-intensity controller (dimmer) for spotlights in studio and stage operation

The light-intensity controller (dimmer) for relatively high power spotlights in studio and stage operation is not intended to permit modelling of an analog characteristic but is intended to create a freely programmable characteristic which takes into account customer-specific desires and requirements. This object is achieved by converting the input desired values into the light-linear characteristic by means of a microcomputer having a microprocessor - for example a Z 80 - one or more relatively small J/O ports - for example 8255 - and a sample-and-hold amplifier for the output signals, the analog input desired values being digitised by software in conjunction with the conventional peripheral, being converted in tabular form into the light-linear characteristic, and being converted to analog form again.
