A duplicating method and a duplicating device are described, in which a first electrostatic pattern or charge pattern is generated on a charge pattern remover (3) in a region corresponding to a first and a second image section of an original (5), a second charge carrier of the same polarity as that of the first charge pattern is generated on a charge pattern carrier layer of a control sieve or grid (28) for the flow of charged particles in a region corresponding to the second image section of the original (5), a flow of charged particles with a polarity opposed to the first charge pattern is projected through the control grid (28), which brings the charge pattern carrier layer into opposition with the charge pattern remover (3), in a region corresponding to the second image section on the charge pattern remover (3), the charge pattern generated in accordance at least with the first image section on the charge pattern remover (3) is developed, a toner pattern thereby produced is transferred onto an intermediate transfer element (21), and the toner pattern generated on the latter is transferred onto a duplicating material (32). <IMAGE>
