<p>A control system for internal combustion engines is proposed, in which a governor is assigned to a smooth running control for lambda or cylinder total filling. In the case of an internal combustion engine with spark ignition a lambda value is controlled and in that of a diesel internal combustion engine the ratio of fresh air to exhaust gas is controlled. In addition a combination of smooth running and exhaust gas recirculation control is disclosed and claimed. The control system permits fuel-saving operation and guarantees adherence to a specific exhaust gas composition. In addition to block circuit diagrams for explaining the signals of the control systems, a flow diagram is shown for computer-controlled implementation. <IMAGE></p> |
