PURPOSE:To reduce the number of splits in a modulating electrode as well as to make its manufacturing process ever so facile without entailing any damage to the degree of resolution, by installing a modulating electrode made up of setting up a first electrode group provided with each stripy electrode having a slitlike opening respectively, and a second electrode group in the same manner in a way of dislocating them as far as a 1/n pitch each in accord with the opening part in a horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION:In this cathode-ray tube, a modulating part is constituted of a three-set of electrode groups, namely, a first electrode group 62 in which plural pieces of a stripy electrode provided with each opening part in a portion proportionate to three colors of a phosphor in a horizontal direction, a second electrode group 61 having the same form as the first group 62 and situated in a position dislocated as far as a 1/3 pitch in the horizontal direction to the opening part of the first group 62 and likewise a third electrode group 63 having the same form as both the first and second groups 62 and 61 and situated in a position dislocated as far as a 1/3 pitch in the horizontal direction to the opening part of the second group 61. With this constitution, since the opening part to be formed in the electrode grows large, hot etching work comes easy, while as for positioning alignment among these electrode groups themselves, even if any slips happen, there is still room for allowing the passage of electron beams. |
