A cross screw for the breaking up of materials via a rotating goods propulsion screw (4), and a number of substantial static counter grips (3). The counter grips (3) are so arranged that, at an adjustable distance from the each other and from the screw, open outlets (16) are formed between the counter grips in order that broken down materials from the cross are successively drawn away during the material's forward movement along the screw. The screw's rotational direction is reversible so that the material can be propelled along the screw in the direction of choice during the breaking down and drawing away of materials through the open outlets (16). Two press plates (19, 20) are arranged so that, under pressure, they feed the material alongside the screw (4), whereby they collect a clearing iron (22) for the clearance of the open outlets (16). The base of the cross is collapsible, so that the counter grips (3) can be moved from below, enabling the removal of nonbroken-down goods from the cross. Both ends of the screw are fitted with a restrainer ring (25) to reduce the possible loss of material at the end of the screw. The counter grips (3) have a retaining edge (14, 15) on each side of the screw.<IMAGE> |
