A driving arrangement for a windscreen wiper is specified, in which the driving spindle for the windscreen wiper is divided and that part of the windscreen wiper spindle which is connected to the wiper blade executes a lifting movement which overrides the swivelling movement and matches the curvature of the windscreen. As a result, the contact pressure of the wiper blades against the windscreen can be kept constant and, with the omittance of the contact-pressure springs and joints which are otherwise required, the inherent elasticity of the wiper arms themselves can be utilised for applying the contact pressure.
