PURPOSE:To prevent a regulating valve from lowering its performance and to eliminate the need for spraying a liquid on a roll by circulating a pressurized liquid and cooling simultaneously the circulating liquid in controlling a roll profile by supplying the pressurized liquid to the hollow chamber of a roll body. CONSTITUTION:An annular hollow chamber 3 having a prescribed length is provided to the inside of the body 2 of a work roll 1 to communicate feeding and discharging passages 8, 9 of a pressurized oil with each other from the end side of the roll 1 shaft. Next, a hydraulic pressure for obtaining a prescribed profile is set in a setter 7, and the pressurized oil delivered from a pump 4 is enclosed under a prescribed pressure, in a circulating system consisting of the chamber 3 and pipes 10, 12, etc. by actuating a servo-valve 11, to detect the hydraulic pressure and keep the pressure constant by a detector 15 and an operator 16. In this way, the oil is circulated by a pump 14 and cooled by a device 13 to keep it at a prescribed temperature thereby cooling the roll 1. Thus the servovalve is prevented from lowering its performance, and the need for spraying the cooling liquid on the roll is eliminated. |
