PURPOSE:To reduce loss of electric power due to the lowering of power factor accompanying the transmission of power generated near the consuming area of power by a method in which a dam and a water-pumped storage type power generation equipment are provided near the mouth of a river, and water coming during the high tide period is pumped into the dam for power generation. CONSTITUTION:When a proper head can be obtained near the mouth of a river, a dam 2 and a water-pumped storage type power generation equipment 3 are provided in the river 1, a levee 4 is provided in the shallow zone of the sea area, and thereby the depth of water in the downstream of the power generation equipment and in the levee 4 is kept constant even during the low tide. The water 1'' at the lower state pushed up during the high tide is pumped into the dam 2 at the upper stage through a water pumping equipment 3, stored with incoming water from the upstream in the dam 2, and further pumped up the dam at the upper stage as needed. By utilizing the head of water stored in an adequate amount, the generation of power is carried out. |
