<p>A shock absorber, more specially for use in office machines, is made up of a housing with two oppositely placed, rigid end plates (2, 3) joined together by a bellows-like casing 4, one of the end plates having a port 6 running into the space inside the casing and having a choke valve fitted therein. The choke is adjustable and preferably has a check valve function. The restoring force of the bellows casing is reinforced by spring elements 15, 16. The casing may be frusto-conical with the size of the folds therein decreasing towards the end with the smaller diameter.
