A plastic lined metal pipe (10) is provided with a flange by deforming a terminal end of the pipe to form a flange on the metal pipe. The terminal portion of the plastic liner (12) extending from the metal pipe (11) is subsequently heated to the softening temperature of the plastic material of the liner (12) by a heated fluid and is deformed by a die (61) to form a flange which conforms to the flange on the metal pipe (11). The invention claims an apparatus (20) and method for forming a flange on a plastic lined pipe.
