A carton (10) for a lead acid accumulator or the like is erected from a carton blank (12) having interlocking portions and adapted so as to leave the terminals of the accumulator exposed when assembled. The carton (10) is also provided with carrying handles in the form of slots (58) in its end walls (22). End panels (24), (30) are sandwiched between doubled-over panels (20), (22), (26) (28) to define multiple thickness end walls (22) and a free edge (48) of a tongue (50) extending from a side panel (16) is engaged in a slot (46) adjacent an opposite side panel (18) to close the top of the carton (10) partially. <IMAGE> |
