To control leakage between primary and secondary circuits (2, 5) of a steam generator (1) of a pressurised water reactor system, pressure equalisation is brought about by shutting off (11, 12) a live steam line (7) and a feedwater line (6) connected to the secondary circuit (5) and by increasing the pressure prevailing in the resulting isolated secondary circuit (5) by the injection of gas via a line (13).
