PURPOSE:To prevent the intrusion of the splash of a molten metal into a joint part in a belt caster by providing a gas ejector in the part where a metallic belt and other mold constituting member approach to form a casting mold. CONSTITUTION:A cooling drum 2 rotates in an arrow direction, and a metallic belt 4 tensed by a belt tensing roll 3 encloses a part on the outside circumference of the metallic drum 2 and moves synchronously with the drum 2, in a wheel-belt caster. A molten metal is charged from a charger 1 into a casting mold constituted of the drum 2 and the belt 4 and is cast to a billet 5. A flange part 7 is projected in the end part of the drum 2 to constitute the short side of the casting mold. A gas ejector 10 is disposed in the upper part of the joint part where the flange part 7 and the belt 4 approach and contact tightly with each other. Inert gas is supplied to said ejector from a gas source. The intrusion and penetration of the molten metal splash into the joint part are thus prevented. |
