PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a part of the clad of an optical fiber close to the emergent end by vapor-depositing a substance having a low refractive index on the emergent end to a thickness 1/4 time the wavelength of Nd-YAG laser light so as to avoid reflectance from the emergent end. CONSTITUTION:A substance 6 having a low refractive index such as MgF2 is vapor-deposited on the emergent end 8 of an optical quartz fiber 7 to a thickness 1/4 time the wavelength of Nd-YAG laser light. Laser light 9a reflected from the end 8 is compensated with laser light 9b reflected from the top 10 of the vapor-deposited substance 6. Accordingly, the damage of a part of the clad 4 close to the end 8 is prevented. |
