<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently treat COD and stenchy gas, by adding an iron salt and hydrogen peroxide to COD-contg. waste water, reacting them with said waste water to oxidatively decompose COD components, and then bringing said waste water into gas-liquid contact with stenchy gas. CONSTITUTION:An iron salt 2 such as ferrous sulfate and hydrogen peroxide 3 are added to COD-contg. waste water such as the biotreated water of night soil. Thereafter, the mixture is agitated under the condition of a pH of 3-4 and introduced into a gas-liquid contact column 4 to bring it into gas-liquid contact with stenchy gas 5. The liquid 6 after being treated is recirculated to the gas- liquid contact column 4 by a circulating pump 7. In this step, COD components in the waste water 1 are chemically oxidized and decomposed by Fenton's reaction. On the other hand, odorous components, e.g. NH3 and mercaptan, in the stenchy gas 5 are easily oxidatively decomposed by H2O2 and OH radical, and deodorized gas 8 is discharged.</p> |
