<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out a copying operation in the least time even upon manual insertion of papers, by arranging two detecting means for detecting the lengths, in the widthwise and lengthwise directions, of the papers so that the size of papers on a tray is detected. CONSTITUTION:Upon manual insertion of papers having, for example, A3 size, a pair of paper feed guide plates 26 movable widthwise of the papers which are set on a tray 20, are laid along the papers, and the front ends of the papers are made to contact a separating rubber 23 in a paper feed means 21. With this arrangement, ON and OFF signals from a read switches 28a, 28b arranged in opposite to a magnet 27 and a paper detecting sensor 29 for detecting the length of the paper are logically computed to obtain the length of the papers. Then, in accordance with the detected paper size, an original paper setting bed 6 displaces by an amount corresponding to the A3 size, and the papers are fed to a copying section 5 through a feed roller 22 and a register roller 4 upon initiation of copying operation.</p> |
