PURPOSE:To efficiently produce a color developing sheet excellent in color developing property and printability, by a method wherein a color developer coating liquid with a solid content of 30-80wt% is supplied in excess onto a base sheet, and an excess portion of the liquid is scraped off in a short period of time. CONSTITUTION:A color developer coating liquid comprising an electron-acceptive color developer and/or a chelating color development type color developer such as an inorganic acidic substance, a phenolic substance, an aromatic carboxylic acid or a multivalent metal salt thereof as a main constituent and further comprising a water-soluble or latex base binder, a while-colored pigment or the like and having a solid content of 30-80wt%, preferably 35-70wt% is supplied in excess onto the base sheet by, e.g., a blade coater. Thereafter, an excess portion of the liquid is scraped off by a blade in a period of time of 0.0005-0.015sec so that the coated quantity of the material becomes 3-15g/m<2> on a dry weight basis. |
